Resident Evil: Retribution - 惡靈古堡V:天譴日

Resident Evil: Retribution (惡靈古堡V:天譴日) is an 2012 film. The movie stars Milla Jovovich. The supporting cast include Li Bingbing, Sienna Guillory, Michelle Rodriguez, and Johann Urb. This is the fifth installment of the current Resident Evil film franchise. It is rumored that the current franchise will conclude with the next installment.

The movie starts off where the last one ends, Resident Evil: Afterlife. They were on a boat and many survivors were released. The start of this one is that those survivors were eliminated and Alice captured and sent to a Umbrella demo site in mother Russia. Alice wakes up and is under the surveillance of Red Queen. Ada Wong and Wesker hack into their systems and release Alice to get out of there. When the Red Queen reclaims control, she unleashes an army on them. How will Alice get out of this one?

The movie was pretty well made. Lots of lots of stylish CG effects. Lots of ways to take out zombies and clones. The movie isn't a retread of the previous four movies, but moves the story further along and adds new CG elements you didn't see in the last one. Worth a watch of you've already seen the previous four.

Resident Evil: Afterlife - 惡靈古堡IV:陰陽界3D

Resident Evil: Afterlife (惡靈古堡IV:陰陽界3D) is a 2010 film out of the USA. The movie stars Milla Jovovich. Ali Larter has a supporting role. The film is very loosely based on the video game of the same name.

Plot courtesy of Netflix:

The Undead Apocalypse continues unabated as super-soldier Alice (Milla Jovovich) finds her way to a supposed sanctuary in Los Angeles, which may just be a deadly trap set for her by the ruthless Umbrella Corporation. The fourth film in Paul W.S. Anderson's blood-soaked saga finds Alice teaming up with Claire (Ali Larter) and Chris (Wentworth Miller) and a handful of stragglers to save what's left of humanity.

The is the fourth installment of the series and it was a good one. The "resident evil" universe can keep this series going as long as Bond. Or at least try. The movie itself was had the sci-fi elements in high gear and introduced new characters to kill off as the movie moves along. The story itself does assume you remember some parts of the previous three movies. But it wasn't enough to prevent you from following along. In all, I missed the 3D experience because I don't have a 3D TV.

Unfortunately, the Asian guy that appears in this film is playing a "kill off" role. Food for the zombies, just waiting for his time to come.
