Searching - 人肉搜索
Searching (人肉搜索) is an 2018 movie. The film stars John Cho, Michelle La, Sara Sohn, Joseph Lee, and Debra Messing. The movie is directed by Aneesh Chaganty. The movie is made via "screen" and not traditional acting.
David Kim is a father of Margot Kim. David's late wife Pam passed away a couple years earlier. Margot and David contact each other from a math study group via Facetime. Later on, David misses a couple of calls and a Facetime call from Margot. Margot doesn't come back the day later and David reports her missing. From that point on, David searches to find out who Margot is and who he is as a father.
The movie takes place mostly on Facetime and the desktop of David and Margot's apple mac laptops. The rest of the footage is from other types of media. There is no traditional acting. Kind of like the found footage type gimmick from a few years back. But this form works way better.
The movie was gripping as it took many many twist and turns. I was on the edge of the seat during the whole movie. It has many slow and think moments for you to absorb the action before.
Highly recommended.
