Duelist - 刑事
Duelist (刑事) is a 2005 film out of Korea. It's one of the many swordplay films out of Korean in the mid-2000s.
In 2005, there was a lot of hype about this film and I wasn't able to rent it from my local video store because it was constantly being rented out. After a month or so, I forgot about it and didn't notice it in the shelves. Fast forward to 2008. I finally see it via Netflix, but it couldn't live up to the hype.
The movie is about a couple of detectives trying to solve a government crisis. Some mastermind is behind a recent crash in the currency of the land. Fake currency has been introduced and everyone is up in arms.
The detectives try to find out the dealio. But they keep running into road blocks. The main protagonist and antagonist are instantly drawn to each other as the pursuit is almost like a dance.
The fighting is ok and the last "dance" in the movie was a major letdown. The martial arts is presented in "dance" form. Unfortunately, it was lost on me.
