X-Men: Days of Future Past - X戰警:未來昔日 - 變種特攻:未來同盟戰 - X战警:逆转未来

X-Men: Days of Future Past (X戰警:未來昔日/變種特攻:未來同盟戰/X战警:逆转未来) is an 2014 film. The movie stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Halle Berry, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Fan Bingbing, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart. The movie is a sequel to X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class.



In the future, Sentinels are sent to exterminate mutants. A remaining few are left trying to survive on. When they keep losing, they decide to try to send back a person to the past to stop the Sentinels from being created. Wolverine's chosen because his mind and body both have healing powers. From the future to 1973. Wolverine's tasks is to prevent Mystique from killing Bolivar Trask, the creator of the Sentinels program. Wolverine must find the younger Charles Xavier and Magneto to help him stop her. All the while, in the future, the remaining few fight on against the Sentinels.



This movie was pretty good. Definitely a change of pace. Bryan Singer makes his way back to the directors chair this time around. It did have more of a X2 feel than the previous other x movies. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is prime and center in the storyline, but James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence have an equally significant role to the overall story. In a sense, this was more of a team film than the last few where Wolverine was very much front and center.



Without giving away too much, this movie totally blows the continuity of the Fox X-verse. Its like a big reset button was pushed at the end. That's what happens with time travel movies.

Whip It - 飆速青春

Whip It (飆速青春) is a 2009 film. The movie stars Ellen Page. The supporting cast includes Drew Barrymore, Alia Shawkat, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis, and Jimmy Fallon. The movie is based on women's roller derby.

Ellen Page plays Bliss Cavendar, a girl with very little direction in life. Because of this lack of direction, she gives in to her demanding mother and enters beauty pageants. Bliss works at a local pig stop with her best friend Pash. Bliss and her mom make a trip to Austin to pick up some gear and run into girls on a roller derby team. Intrigued, Bliss picks up the try out flyer and goes secretly withour her parents knowledge and being underaged. Bliss makes the team and starts to compete for star status. Bliss also helps her team go from zero wins to challengers for the season's title.

This was an pretty amazing movie. From the aimlessness of Bliss to the over the top personas of the other team members, this movie was really a fun ride. Nothing too crass was needed to advance the story. In essence, it was a coming of age story for Bliss. Going from a gal with no direction to a gal who has renewed confidence. And its all because of roller derby.

Inception - 全面啟動

Inception (全面啟動) is a 2010 film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy, and Dileep Rao. The film is helmed by famed director Christopher Nolan.

The Story
A group of hired guns will go into a person's dream to extract valuable information. The way they do this is via a technique developed by the US armed forces to "share dreams" But these team members aren't just sharing dreams, they have roles to fill. A architect is someone who builds the dream and there are the guys the run missions in the dream. Dom and Arthur are a team and look for architects to make their living. Mr. Saito is looking to one up his competition and hires Dom. But this mission is different. This mission isn't to extract information but to plant an idea, Inception.

A must see for any movie fan of suspense trillers. Since the story is based on suspense and slow reveals, my synopsis is going to do the film justice. Its also a movie that's commanded quite a few discussions around the ending and beginning.

You'll get the highest of recommendations from me to watch this film and to watch it on the big screen.
