Deadpool & Wolverine - 死侍與金鋼狼

Deadpool And Wolverine (死侍與金鋼狼) is an 2024 movie. The film stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the title characters respectively. The supporting cast include Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Shioli Kutsuna, and Lewis Tan. Cameo appearances from too many to name including Dafne Keen, Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Chris Evans, Henry Cavill, Wesley Snipes, and Jon Favreau. The movie is the third Deadpool movie and unofficially the fourth Wolverine. This is also both their introductions into the MCU as the 34th film.

The movie takes place on Earth-10005, whereas the sacred timeline is Earth-616. Earth-10005 is in danger of ending because Logan’s death has caused that timeline to fracture and start to end. In order to save it, Deadpool must revive Logan. However, he is unable to revive the Earth-10005 Logan and is now sent to the void by the TVA. Before he’s sent to the void, Deadpool finds a Logan he thinks can replace Earth-10005’s. But both are sent back to the void. Deadpool now has to find a way back to his Earth and still it save with another earth’s Logan.

This film was insane because it does not follow the rules of movies. For example, breaking the fourth wall, referring to the characters by the actors name, talking about Disney many times and multiple references to the MCU.

I will say that the first half of the film, although amused, I was wondering where the story was going to go. And when they got to the void, I wondered how the story was going to progress. But the last third of the film brought all the loose end together. Was it a tight and bulletproof ending? No way, it just leaves you asking more questions, but do you care about the answers? The movie was so entertaining that all the story holes were kind of made acceptable.

This was a Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds movie. It was many elements of the previous two Deadpool’s, but even more this time around.

The Greatest Showman - 大娛樂家

The Greatest Showman (大娛樂家) is an 2017 film. The movie stars Hugh Jackman. The supporting cast include Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya. The movie is based in part on P. T. Barnum, and how he started the Barnum & Bailey Circus. The circus is no longer around in our modern era, but when I was young, it was still around. I just never got to go.

P. T. Barnum is dirt poor and falls for a rich girl. The rich girl loves him back. He marries her, but they have to live very modestly. She doesn't mind, she just loves him and they have two daughters. When the company PT works for goes under, he takes his idea of a museum with special stories. But doesn't do that well. Eventually, PT starts to showcase social outcast in a show, leading to the creation of a circus. He than begins to gain success and the riches that he promised his wife. Well all this success go to PT's head? Will the circus concept be a success?

This movie is a musical and the songs are darn catchy. The "This Is Me" song was even used for the 2018 Winter Olympic ceremonies. As for the movie, nothing really wrong with a touchy rags to riches story with lots of song and dance. Kids will love it, Adults will love the historical value of it. Not sure how it'll resonate for millennials whom will never know what a circus is.

Logan - 羅根

Logan (羅根) is an 2017 film. The movie stars Hugh Jackman and Dafne Keen. The supporting cast include Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, and Stephen Merchant.

In the near, but distant future of 2029, Logan is working as a limo driver. When a young X23 type girl shows up, they head on a adventurous road trip. At the end of this road trip, will they get to paradise? Along the way, Logan must contend with the organization that developed X23 as they aim to get her back. But wait, Logan's not his old usual self.

Apparently, Hugh Jackman announced that this will be his last turn as the venerable Wolverine. Hugh Jackman has played Wolverine/Logan since the first X-Men movie. It was also based on the Old Man Logan version.

I liked the movie a lot. I liked the 2029 timeline. Still the future, but not far enough that the tech still looks familiar. I also liked how they handled Professor X and the future's bleak take for the mutants. It's too bad this will be Jackman's final time as Wolverine.

X-Men: Days of Future Past - X戰警:未來昔日 - 變種特攻:未來同盟戰 - X战警:逆转未来

X-Men: Days of Future Past (X戰警:未來昔日/變種特攻:未來同盟戰/X战警:逆转未来) is an 2014 film. The movie stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Halle Berry, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Fan Bingbing, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart. The movie is a sequel to X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class.

In the future, Sentinels are sent to exterminate mutants. A remaining few are left trying to survive on. When they keep losing, they decide to try to send back a person to the past to stop the Sentinels from being created. Wolverine's chosen because his mind and body both have healing powers. From the future to 1973. Wolverine's tasks is to prevent Mystique from killing Bolivar Trask, the creator of the Sentinels program. Wolverine must find the younger Charles Xavier and Magneto to help him stop her. All the while, in the future, the remaining few fight on against the Sentinels.

This movie was pretty good. Definitely a change of pace. Bryan Singer makes his way back to the directors chair this time around. It did have more of a X2 feel than the previous other x movies. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is prime and center in the storyline, but James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence have an equally significant role to the overall story. In a sense, this was more of a team film than the last few where Wolverine was very much front and center.

Without giving away too much, this movie totally blows the continuity of the Fox X-verse. Its like a big reset button was pushed at the end. That's what happens with time travel movies.

The Wolverine - 金鋼狼:武士之戰

The Wolverine (金鋼狼:武士之戰) is an 2013 film. The movies Hugh Jackman as The Wolverine. The supporting cast include Tao Okamoto, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rila Fukushima, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee, and Famke Janssen. The film is loosly based on the 1982 limited series Wolverine by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.

Logan is having trouble being around people. Hiding out in the woods somewhere, Logan relives having to take Jean Grey's life during X-Men: The Last Stand. Unable to sleep well, he dreams of Jean and accidentally stabbing her to death with his claws. Yukio travels to the US in search of Logan to bring back to Japan for her benefactor and employer, Yashida. Yashida was saved by the bomb blast during World War II when Logan used his body as a human shield. Yashida parlayed his life into transforming a company named after himself into one of the biggest conglomerates in Japan. Yashida wants to relieve Logan of his immortality. But Logan refues and Yashida dies. At the funeral, Yashida's granddaughter Mariko is named the heir to his empire. The yakuza kidnap her, but Logan rescue's her and they both go on the run since they are not sure who they can trust. Can Logan figure out how to save Mariko from those that want her dead and also save himself?

This movie was light years better than 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This story was well written, featured plenty of mystery, and had some good looking Asian people. Asian Americans Will Yun Lee and Brian Tee take a turn being Japanese with their faux Nippon accents. Both move the story along. The movie itself was pretty tense and moved quite fast due to having to cover so much. Tao Okamoto (Target's Phillip Lim collection commerical) is striking as the "damsel in distress" role.

The action was pretty well done although some things were a little absurd like ninja clan back story and the Silver Samarai with the energized swords made of adamantium. What?! Isn't it too easy to just cut adamantium?

In general, a good movie with good action, a mystery plot line, and lots of eye candy.

Real Steel - 鋼鐵擂台

Real Steel (鋼鐵擂台) is an 2011 film. The movie stars Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo, and Evangeline Lilly. Support cast include Karl Yune and Olga Fonda.

In the near future, humans no longer fight in the ring. Human controlled robots fight. Humans build and operate them like they would a RC car. Some have shadow features (why everyone doesn't have this is lame). Hugh Jackman plays a robot hustler, named Charlie, trying to make ends meet with old jobs with his robot. In a case of being totally stupid, he loses his robot and has to find a new one. When he gets back to his homebase, he's left with a son he never knew about from his former ex-wife. Seizing the opportunity to get some $$ from the rich aunt and uncle that want Max for themselves, they embark on a summer adventure. With the new earned $$, Charlie purchases a former Asian robot champ. On the first fight, feeling a little too confident, the robot is decapitated. Charlie and his son Max now have to get a new robot. When looking for parts to repair, they happen around a sparring robot and salvage it with great fanfare. The robot has a shadow feature and Max puts a bunch of key features from the two other destroyed robots. From that shadow feature, Charlie gets back to his boxing roots and trains Atom to fight. Fights so well with Charlie's natural boxing talent, he takes out all the suckers.

This movie is not for adults. It's for kids. The story was based on a 10 year olds perception of life. Charlie is not a man to make good decisions. How a 10 year boy changes his life could happen, but not likely. Reality isn't this films strong suit. However, the story is feel good and has the ultimate happy ending. Karl Yune plays the Japanese antagonist of the film that barely speaks and looks angry 99% of the time. However, he's not the only Asian presence in the movie. Some of the robot controllers were also Asian.
