Deadpool & Wolverine - 死侍與金鋼狼

Deadpool And Wolverine (死侍與金鋼狼) is an 2024 movie. The film stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the title characters respectively. The supporting cast include Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Shioli Kutsuna, and Lewis Tan. Cameo appearances from too many to name including Dafne Keen, Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Chris Evans, Henry Cavill, Wesley Snipes, and Jon Favreau. The movie is the third Deadpool movie and unofficially the fourth Wolverine. This is also both their introductions into the MCU as the 34th film.

The movie takes place on Earth-10005, whereas the sacred timeline is Earth-616. Earth-10005 is in danger of ending because Logan’s death has caused that timeline to fracture and start to end. In order to save it, Deadpool must revive Logan. However, he is unable to revive the Earth-10005 Logan and is now sent to the void by the TVA. Before he’s sent to the void, Deadpool finds a Logan he thinks can replace Earth-10005’s. But both are sent back to the void. Deadpool now has to find a way back to his Earth and still it save with another earth’s Logan.

This film was insane because it does not follow the rules of movies. For example, breaking the fourth wall, referring to the characters by the actors name, talking about Disney many times and multiple references to the MCU.

I will say that the first half of the film, although amused, I was wondering where the story was going to go. And when they got to the void, I wondered how the story was going to progress. But the last third of the film brought all the loose end together. Was it a tight and bulletproof ending? No way, it just leaves you asking more questions, but do you care about the answers? The movie was so entertaining that all the story holes were kind of made acceptable.

This was a Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds movie. It was many elements of the previous two Deadpool’s, but even more this time around.

Knives Out - 鋒迴路轉

Knives Out (鋒迴路轉) is an 2019 film. The movie stars Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer. Since this movie was really an ensemble cast, top billing is hard to promote. I picked this up from redbox right before the pandemic hit Los Angeles in March of 2020. It is currently my last Redbox rental via my T-Mobile Tuesday deals.

The movie is the investigation of a death in a wealthy family. Because of the wealth, the family members are all very interested in how it will be divided. When an unexpected person gets it, but family springs into action to get the will changed. A famous investigator is brought in to solve the mystery.

In looking back on this movie and watching it again in parts on Amazon Prime a few months ago, the movie was not as interesting the second time around. How could it be if you know how the mystery is solved? On the first watch, I was trying to follow along, but gave up. Like most mystery movies, they leave out key details that they only show you when the investigators is telling everyone how they solved the mystery. I was not too disappointed by this and converted myself to just enjoying how the mystery unfolds. As things went on, you saw all the different family members do their thing. In the end, it was quite enjoyable on first watch. If you like mysteries, this one is a dandy.

I did not notice any prominent Asian faces in this movie.

Avengers: Endgame - 復仇者聯盟:終局之戰

Avengers: Endgame (復仇者聯盟:終局之戰) is an 2019 movie. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner as the original six Avengers. The other cast members include Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper, and Josh Brolin. This is the 22nd film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The is the 4th Avengers film and a direct sequel to Avengers: Infinity War (復仇者聯盟:無限之戰).

In the aftermath of the Snap, Tony and Nebula are trapped in space, but make it back to earth. On earth, it is confirmed that 50% of life has ended around the universe. Captain Marvel returns to earth to help. Ant-man makes it back out of the Quantum realm to join in the fight. There, they join forces with the rest of the survivors. Their plan is to re-claim the stones to undo what Thanos did. And that's as much from the trailers that we can reveal now. The rest would be spoilers

After 22 films. Seriously, 22 films, this is the finale. The one that sets the tone for the MCU going forward. And does it ever. If you're reading this beyond April 2019, you'll think it silly of all the fan theories out there and that none of them were even close to 25% correct. Elements were there, but the story took so many turns that unless you had the script, you wouldn't have known.

I am writing this within a couple of hours of coming home from the movie, so my mind is still trying to process. I think a 2nd and 3rd viewing will allow me to put the story aside and just enjoy the majesty of the most epic MCU ever.

This is an epic film by all accounts and it plays to the strengths of all the survivors and sets up the next phase of the MCU. What the MCU has done is unprecedented in connecting together 22 films and making sense of most of it. This 22nd one takes the cake and you'll be happy that you took the time to enjoy the MCU ride.

I saw it on IMAX it was spectacular. If you want to enjoy it, do it in IMAX. It was the midnight showings or pre-release day previews. This movie will have a huge box office opening. The 3 hours actually seems fast. I wanted more after. I wanted it to continue.

The movie has the most comedy of the ensemble casts films and you'll be laughing and crying at the same time.

So, what's next now? With Disney+ in the mix and the inclusion of the Fox, the future of the MCU seems so up in the air. I for one will be happily following along.

Avengers: Infinity War - 復仇者聯盟:無限之戰

Avengers: Infinity War (復仇者聯盟:無限之戰) is an 2018 film. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Josh Brolin, and Chris Pratt. This is the nineteenth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Thanos is after the Infinity Stones. As Thor: Ragnarok (雷神索爾3:諸神黃昏) reveals Thanos at their heels. We see him take one stone, but he's already got one. With the Space and Power stone in his grasp, he sets on his quest for the other 4. We already know Vision and Doctor Strange have two, respectively. The third with the Collector. The soul stone, the last one is unknown. The massive group is split as they go on their arcs to all eventually fight Thanos. Will Thanos succeed and end half of life in the universe?

I just watched this. Writing this up within the hour. I have so much to process and all of it is good. I am not sure where this ranks in the MCU, but its a pretty amazing piece of cinema. Does it stand up against Black Panther (黑豹) or Thor: Ragnarok (雷神索爾3:諸神黃昏)? Or the many other MCU movies before. As the nineteenth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), you've got a lot to live up to and surpass.

I need to watch this again or three. But I must say, it was a lot of story, a lot of characters, a lot of things that make the MCU massive and at the same time, your investment in the characters paying off.

If you're a fan of the MCU, you must watch this movie.

Gifted - 天才的禮物

Gifted (天才的禮物) is an 2017 movie. The film stars Chris Evans and Mckenna Grace. The supporting cast include Lindsay Duncan, Jenny Slate, and Octavia Spencer. The movie is directed by Marc Webb.

Mckenna Grace plays a 7 year old math genius, Mary Adler. Mary is being raised by her uncle Frank Adler, played by Chris Evan. Frank has home schooled Mary up to kindergarten, but decides she needs school when first grade comes around. Mary shows she's not like other kids and during school, things bore her because she's already ahead of them and not interested in other activities like drawing. At home, Frank works on boats and has a close relationship with a neighbor Roberta Taylor, played by Octavia Spencer. Roberta warned Frank that things would change if she were not homeschooled. The school begins to sense that Mary is gifted, but Frank insist on staying in the first grade class. Eventually, this leads to Frank's mother finding out. All hell breaks loose after that.

Gifted was unexpected. If you watched the trailer, you only know the first bits of the story. What unfolded was a dialogue of the way we raise kids, their purpose if they have ungodly talent, and the court's view on what's good for parenting. In a short neat ~100 minute film, it makes you think. The movie is eventually a heartbreaker, but worth the ride.

Chris Evan is best known recently for his role as Captain America. But this role does take on a similar type of justice and I know what's best attitude. Just no shield and Avengers around.

Captain America: Civil War - 美國隊長3:英雄內戰 - 美国队长3:英雄内战

Captain America: Civil War (美國隊長3:英雄內戰) is an 2016 film. The movie stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Rudd. The supporting cast include Emily VanCamp, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, and William Hurt. The movie is the 13th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the third Captain America installment.

Part of the Avengers team is out in Nigeria when they find out the Cross Bones will be attacking a police station. However, as they stake out the police station, they notice activity elsewhere. When they catch up to the bad guys at a new target, they fight and are the way to winning. A bomb goes off that causes collateral damage. Back at Avengers headquarters, they are presented with the Skova Accords, where the Avengers are regulated by the UN. Captain America and Iron Man have a difference of opinion. Captain America and Iron Man than build their teams. Cap chooses the side of Bucky over and over again. Who will win this Civil War?

I thought this movie was awesome. It continues the MCU storyline and gives it a shot of adrenaline. Almost all of the major MCU players are in this movie. Thor and Hulk are the notable absences. When they all come together, the fireworks start. The trailers elude to a big epic TeamIronMan vs. TeamCap fight. And it lives up to the hype.

Spider-man makes his MCU debut and is pretty awesome. Which makes next years Spider-Man a highly anticipated film. Might be a record breaker.

Captain America: Civil War - 美國隊長3:英雄內戰 - Upcoming

Captain America: Civil War (美國隊長3:英雄內戰) is now available for viewing publicly in most of Asia. That sucks, I have to wait until May 5th of next week. While the rest of the world can their Avengers on, I have to wait an extra 7 and half days. They've had a early release schedule for Asia for what seems like a decade now. Maybe they start it to fight piracy. I haven't really looked into it. BUT I am mad that I have wait an extra week.

This 10 days to release teaser reveals more of Spider-man. What a tease! 10 days when it was going to release in Asia in 3. Lame.

From all the teaser clips that have come out. I am foaming at the mouth to watch it. Seriously awesome stuff.

I recently re-watched Avengers, Iron Man 3, and Avengers: Age Of Ultron again. All three were pretty awesome. I can't help but think that Civil War will be one of the best. And it will get no awards play next year too, which is typical of lame awards. Its to pat the losers on their own backs.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - 復仇者聯盟2:奧創紀元 - First Viewing Thoughts

Avengers: Age of Ultron (復仇者聯盟2:奧創紀元) is an 2015 film. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner. The supporting cast include Don Cheadle, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Cobie Smulders, Anthony Mackie, Hayley Atwell, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgård, James Spader, Samuel L. Jackson, Linda Cardellini, Julie Delpy, Andy Serkis, Claudia Kim, and Stan Lee. This is a sequel to 2012's The Avengers. However, the story chronologically follows the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television show. I watched this last night as part of the "Midnight" showings, but it was at 7pm on IMAX 3D.

After the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers have been trying to recover some weapons Hydra stole. Along the way, Tony Stark accidentally creates artificial intelligence in the form of Ultron. Ultron than tries to destroy the world and recruits twins with some pretty nice powers and beef with Stark. However, when the twins find out that Ultron means to destroy the world, they side with the Avengers. The Avengers are Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. The twins are Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. They get a little help from Iron Patriot, Maria Hill, and Nick Fury. Ultron creates Vison during all the brewhaha.

Wow. The movie was an edge of your seat kind of movie. So much stuff going on that you didn't have time to relax. From the get go, it's action. There were tender moments in the film that build your emotional attachment to the characters, the city, and the situation at hand.

This is classic Joss Whedon in a Marvel controlled environment. Classic Joss Whedon wise cracking humor that's made him so beloved during the Buffy and Firefly eras. You've got character development where you least expect it and a whole ensemble cast that needs highlighting. And all this in a little over 2 hours!

I am itching to watch it again at least a couple more times. I can't wait for its release on Blu-ray to go slower through the movie. This Avengers stands by itself and should be watched multiple times.

This fanboy of comics and movies approves.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 美國隊長2:酷寒戰士 - 美國隊長2 - 美國隊長2:冬日戰士

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (美國隊長2:酷寒戰士) is an 2014 film. The movie stars Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson. The supporting cast include Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Robert Redford, and Samuel L. Jackson. There's even a appearance by UFC legend Georges St-Pierre as Batroc. The normal Marvel cameo from Stan Lee is also there. This is a sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger. Very much like Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is more sequel to the Avengers movie.

Captain America starts after the events of the Avengers movie. Steve Rogers works out in DC and befriends Sam Wilson, a former paramilitary trooper working at the VA helping veterans get back on their feet. When sent on a hostage rescue mission, we find out something a bit sinister is in the air when Nick Fury is attacked and killed. When Captain America is questioned, the ranking SHIELD agent Alexander Pierce decides Rogers is not telling the truth and goes after him. With some help from the Black Widow, they track a lead to a military base where they find out the Hydra has been masterminding a global takeover. On the run again, they enlist the help of Sam Wilson who's now turned into the Falcon via a high tech exoskeleton. The Winter Solider is the muscle for Hydra and dukes it out with Captain America on a few occasions. When they find out that SHIELD is being use, they set out to stop them, but now with the help of Maria Hill.

Whew! That was a mouthful and that's not even much of the movie. There was so much action! Car chase, helicarrier fight, bombings, etc. Wow, there were still moments, but not much. The continuation of the Hydra story from Captain America: The First Avenger was all over the place. Once Zola got involved, the storyline totally opened up and the mastermind was revealed. It was a great ride. Steve Rogers is man that does the right thing, but the 1930s/1940s and the 2010s are very different eras. The introduction of new comics heros in The Falcon and Sharon Carter was very welcomed. The two easter eggs also make the anticipation for Avengers 2 all the more feverish.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe just got a lot bigger with this movie and its Easter egg.

If you're a Marvel fan, comic fanboy, Cap lover, Avengers groupie, you MUST watch this movie. Do it, don't hesitate.
