Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania - 蟻人與黃蜂女:量子狂熱

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (蟻人與黃蜂女:量子狂熱) is an 2023 movie. The film stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors, Kathryn Newton, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Michael Douglas. If you an believe it, this is the 31st film of the MCU and the first for Phase Five.

Scott has just saved the world and he's feeling pretty good about it. One thing that happened during the blip was that he missed out on time with his daughter Cassie. Cassie has taken up a good relationship with Henry and Hope. At a family dinner, she lets Scott and Janet know of a project with the Quantum realm. Cassie has been researching the realm and shows off her project. Janet freaks out and tells Cassie to stop. However, they are sucked into the Quantum Realm where they eventually meet Kang. Can they survive Kang and the Quantum Realm?

I got to watch it in 3D IMAX (Multiplex Design) on a very big screen. I was hooked as this film was a bit of non-stop action. There were times of talking, but it wasn't long before it was onto the next quest. I wasn't mad at it though. The pacing was good and I didn't feel like it dragged.

I will have to watch it again to truely appreciate it. Recently, I've been catching a lot of the Phase 2 and 3 films and I hope these phase 5 films can match it. Phase 4 was not able to as a whole.

Murder on the Orient Express - 東方快車謀殺案

Murder on the Orient Express (東方快車謀殺案) is an 2017 film. The movie is directed and starred by Kenneth Branagh as Agatha Christie's most famous detective, Hercule Poirot. The supporting cast include Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer, and Daisy Ridley.

The story begins with Hercule's solving a crime. He gets on a train to retire back in Europe only to be entangled with a murder on the Orient Express. At this point, everyone is a suspect and the adventure begins with finding out who it is. A game of Clue on the big screen starts. Will Hercule's be able to solve the crime before they end their ride?

This movie was well made with a very experience cast. All the folks involved with this film would be considered for every drama oriented movies before and after this one. Which makes the movie very slick and polished. BUT the story was very hard to follow and I don't really know Hercule's much. The film makers assume you're at least familiar with his legendary status. Because no matter how much they sit him up as the detective of extraordinary talent, it doesn't really fly. For me, I was entertained while I watched, but wouldn't watch again or recommend to my friends.

People Like Us

People Like Us is an 2012 film. The movie stars Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks. The supporting cast include Olivia Wilde, Jon Favreau, and Michelle Pfeiffer. I caught this movie on HBO a year or so back.

The movie start with Chris Pine's character Sam Harper returning home to Los Angeles for the funeral of his father. When he arrives back home, his mother is not all that happy to see him as he has not been back much since college. While going through his father's belongings, he finds money that he needs very much. But he finds a note that says the money goes to Josh Davis. Sam eventually finds Josh and his mother, Frankie Davis, played by Elizabeth Banks. Frankie is Sam's half sister and Josh is his nephew. Sam decides to stick around while trying to figure out if he should keep the money. Along the way, Sam forces his way into Frankie and Josh's life. Will Sam find redemption?

The movie was slow and took awhile to develop. I was washing dishes so I let it run. I don't think I missed much. But the movie was entertaining enough. Pine is a charismatic leading man and Banks also keeps your attention. What got me hooked was what he would do with the money. Keep it for himself or give it to Josh Davis? The home life Sam had with his mother was also of interest. In the end, I enjoyed the movie.
