Making up for lost time as I covered 2013 and 2014 before this. Here are the top ten box office performers of 2015 for United States Of America. I've added a couple to the list as honorable mention making it almost a bakers' dozen.

Glass - 異裂

Glass (異裂) is an 2019 film. The movie stars Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, James McAvoy, and Anya Taylor-Joy. The movie is a direct sequel to Split (分裂) and takes place with characters from Unbreakable, a Bruce Willis movie from 2000. The trio of films was dubbed the Unbreakable Trilogy. The movie is portrayed as taking place in the general Philadelphia area, where M. Night Shyamalan grew up, the director of this film.



The Horde has caught a foursome of cheerleaders and intends to make them suffer. Skip over to David, the Unbreakable character, and he's a vigilante roaming the streets fighting crime. When David finds the Horde and battles the Beast, they are caught and sent to a mental ward for re-conditioning. The mental ward also holds Glass, the fragile bone man. Glass wants to team up with the Horde against David. Will they escape and unleash themselves on the public again?

In order to better understand Glass, you will need to have watch Unbreakable. They referenced that movie more than a few times and I was confused (I saw it once in 2000). Because Split (分裂) is more fresh in my mind, I didn't need to see that movie to understand the Horde. The acting of James McAvoy was outstanding. The rest of the cast was ok, with Sarah Paulson taking a distant second.

Interesting movie as there is a major twist. Is the twist worth it? If more movies come out of this that are intriguing, it is a Great TWIST! If the movies suck, than this movie was sucky.

Worth a watch for Shyamalan fans, but not a very straight forward film due to the complex themes it had to convey.

Replicas - 捍衛生死線

Replicas (捍衛生死線) is an 2019 film. The movie stars Keanu Reeves, Alice Eve, and Thomas Middleditch. The movie was shot on location in Puerto Rico during 2016. The movie was originally going to be released in the summer of 2018 but got pushed back.



Keanu Reeves plays William Foster, the head scientist for a android program. Thomas Middleditch plays Ed Whittle, his main assistant, confidant, and bio tissues guy. When the Foster family heads out for a trip, a terrible car accidents kills everyone except for William. William enlist the help of Ed to put his family's memories into androids. Can they make this happen without anyone finding out? Can he keep it from the androids?



I have a hate love relationship with this movie. After I put it on, I kept stopping it, because it started out so bad. Oh so bad. The introduction of William Foster and his research was terrible. Why should you care? You don't so you don't want to continue, even after the accident. But I had it on the background while I did other things and the the last 2/3 of the movie ended up being awesome. So awesome that I went to back to watch parts I missed because I needed context. About roughly 10 minutes.



Why did the beginning have to suck so much?! This movie also did terrible at the box office. Maybe Keanu will make it back on the after market, but its disappointing that the movie started so bad. BUT the remaining 2/3rd of the movie went into sci-fi thriller mode and was quite awesome. Watch it if you are a Keanu or Sci-fi fan. I am glad I didn't turn it off.

Shazam! - 沙贊!

Shazam! (沙贊!) is an 2019 film. The movie stars Zachary Levi. The rest of the cast is a really big ensemble. The movie is part of the DCEU.



Shazam is a wizard looking for someone that is worthy to past on his powers to, to protect the realm from the seven evils. When he finds Billy Batson, the wizard transfers his powers and his responsibilities over to him. Billy Batson is 14 years old and we find out the beginnings of a new Shazam. So things go wrong, oh so wrong. Billy acts like a 14 year would if given all these powers. The evils chosen villain appears to challenge the might of Shazam. Will Shazam over come the immaturity of being a 14 year old or succumb to the villain?



The movie is doing quite well at the box office numbers during its beginning weeks, but has trailed off bit since. There's a reason, the movie is quite dark, even for the story in the early teen years. If you have a pre-teen, you might have to explain a lot of things.

The major thing I didn't like about this movie is that he's 14 and acts like it, even with his powers. I don't know, I don't like rebellious teenagers in real life and I certainly don't like them on screen. That's one my pet peeves with Anime too, so many imports have high school students as heroes and its sucky for someone at my age. Shazam cannot escape this too.

If you want to keep up with the DCEU or its on Netflix, why not watch it. However, better to skip it in the theaters.
