F1

F1 is an 2025 film. The movie stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. The supporting cast include Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Kim Bodnia, Sarah Niles, Will Merrick, Joseph Balderrama, Abdul Salis, Callie Cooke, Samson Kayo, and Tobias Menzies. The movie was directed by Joseph Kosinski. The movie had a good opening weekend.



Sonny Hayes has just won the 24 hour Daytona race and is heading to another race. Ruben Cervantes has a F1 team and needs a driver, recruting Sonny as they drove against each other in the 1990s. Sonny has been out of F1 for 3 decades. The remaining driver Joshua Pearce (JP) is a up and coming driver. Sonny and JP butt heads right away. The team needs at least 1 win to continue as a F1 into the next year. If not, they will be sold and debanded with Ruben losing over 350 million dollars. Can Sonny help the team get 1 win and survive to the next season?



I was able to goto the movie via T-Mobile Tuesday deal of $5 a ticket. I eneded up getting a couple of more codes via eBay for $1.95 each. The total for 4 tickets was $23.84. Popcorn and a drink was $28.74. If we had gotton a regular IMAX ticket, it would have been $24.99 each. It harder to justify going to the theatre. This was the first movie as a family in a couple of years. Recently, I have only gone out to the theatre on the T-Mobile $5 tickets.

How was the movie? It was good. I was entertained the whole time. I am a passing F1 guy and do not generally keep track anymore. I was kinda into F1 during the Michael Schumacher's dominance during the 1990s. But lost interst as it was hard to get F1 news in the US back in the day. Recently, due to many clips online, I have gotten back in. The movie was not hard to understand due to my passing interest. My other family members whom did not know what F1 was, got the movie as well.

The story itself is pretty easy to follow. Win one race. However, the journey to get there via Brad Pitt was pretty fun. Pitt does a good job as the old man.

The Little Mermaid 2023 - 小美人魚 2023

The Little Mermaid (小美人魚) is an 2023 film. The movie stars Halle Bailey and Jonah Hauer-King. Awkwafina lends her voice to Scuttle, Melissa McCarthy plays Ursula, and Javier Bardem plays King Triton, the father. This is a live action remake of the original animated The Little Mermaid from 1989.

The Little Mermaid is infatuated with the surface world. During a ship crash, she saves someone that did not make it onto a life boat, Prince Eric. She uses her siren voice to revive him. Ursula finds out and makes a deal with her that she will give her human legs, but no voice. She jumps at the chance to meet Prince Eric again.

Not sure what to say about this movie. The main audience for this film is not me. I don’t think I’ve ever watched the original one in its entirety as well. I may have enjoyed one or two of the songs here and there over the years, but it is not something I purposely put on. At the moment, I prefer the 1989 versions more. I’ve generally felt that way about the other live action re-makes as well. I watched this with my family and they all enjoyed it and immediately started listening to the songs on Spotify.

Go watch if you like these type of films. I will most likely choose other stuff to watch or listen to.

Skyfall - 007 空降危機

Skyfall (007 空降危機) is an 2012 film. The movie stars Daniel Craig. The supporting cast include Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Bérénice Marlohe, and Albert Finney. The movie is based on James Bond by Ian Fleming. This is the 23rd installment of the film franchise. The film was an joint UK/US production.

Daniel Craig plays James Bond for the third time. The movie starts in Istanbul where Bond is in pursuit of hard drive of all MI6 agents. The chase leads to the top of an train. When the supporting MI6 agent has to take a shot. That agent misses the terrorist and hits Bond. Bond falls into the river and is presumed to be dead. Fast forward ahead a few months ahead, we see that Bond has survived and has picked up some nasty vices. While watching the TV, Bond sees that the MI6 headquarters have been bomb and the list he falled to secure is now slowly being released via the internet. The exposed agents start to show up executed. Bond decides it time to head back to MI6 and catch the person behead this. When he comes back, MI6 has gone through some scrutiny and Bond fails the agent "test". M however still puts Bond back on duty. Bond now pursues there only lead, the terrorist that first obtained the list. From their, the bad guy, played by Javier Bardem, rears its ugly head. Let the fun begin!

The movie was pretty long, clocking in at over 2 hours and 20 minutes. But I barely noticed the length. The movie was non stop in the beginning and from the middle on. Sam Mendes does a good job of keeping the essential elements of Bond, but for an audience based in 2012/2013. Movies continue to evolve and the bond series shows you very much how the trends have been for the last 50 years. The long Bond marathons on Spike show me how movies of the 1960s are so different than the decades proceed it. All the way to Skyfall.

From the box office side, Skyfall is most successful film of the franchise and it has truly captured the worldwide market as well. I have to say that I like this film just slightly more than Casino Royale.
