F1

F1 is an 2025 film. The movie stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. The supporting cast include Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Kim Bodnia, Sarah Niles, Will Merrick, Joseph Balderrama, Abdul Salis, Callie Cooke, Samson Kayo, and Tobias Menzies. The movie was directed by Joseph Kosinski. The movie had a good opening weekend.

Sonny Hayes has just won the 24 hour Daytona race and is heading to another race. Ruben Cervantes has a F1 team and needs a driver, recruting Sonny as they drove against each other in the 1990s. Sonny has been out of F1 for 3 decades. The remaining driver Joshua Pearce (JP) is a up and coming driver. Sonny and JP butt heads right away. The team needs at least 1 win to continue as a F1 into the next year. If not, they will be sold and debanded with Ruben losing over 350 million dollars. Can Sonny help the team get 1 win and survive to the next season?

I was able to goto the movie via T-Mobile Tuesday deal of $5 a ticket. I eneded up getting a couple of more codes via eBay for $1.95 each. The total for 4 tickets was $23.84. Popcorn and a drink was $28.74. If we had gotton a regular IMAX ticket, it would have been $24.99 each. It harder to justify going to the theatre. This was the first movie as a family in a couple of years. Recently, I have only gone out to the theatre on the T-Mobile $5 tickets.

How was the movie? It was good. I was entertained the whole time. I am a passing F1 guy and do not generally keep track anymore. I was kinda into F1 during the Michael Schumacher's dominance during the 1990s. But lost interst as it was hard to get F1 news in the US back in the day. Recently, due to many clips online, I have gotten back in. The movie was not hard to understand due to my passing interest. My other family members whom did not know what F1 was, got the movie as well.

The story itself is pretty easy to follow. Win one race. However, the journey to get there via Brad Pitt was pretty fun. Pitt does a good job as the old man.

Deadpool 2 - 死侍2

Deadpool 2 (死侍2) is an 2018 film. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. The supporting cast include Morena Baccarin, Josh Brolin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, T. J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, Karan Soni, Shioli Kutsuna, Lewis Tan, Bill Skarsgård, Terry Crews, Brad Pitt, Rob Delaney, and Hayley Sales. The film is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, but in the Fox X-Men universe. This is also the long awaited sequel to Deadpool (惡棍英雄:死侍)

Wade has decided to lead a life of fighting crime. When a boy is in need of his help, he tries to help. Wade gets into the middle of fight between the boy and a time traveling bad @$$ named Cable. Cable is looking to get the boy and Deadpool wants to save the boy. Deadpool needs help and starts his own super group, the X-Force. Armed with new superheroes at his side, they set out to save the boy from Cable. Can Wade do it?

That's the plot from the trailer. But that's not what the film is about. If I wrote about it, it would take away from your enjoyment of the movie. Deadpool kind of goes a little darker with the story with the introduction of Cable and the X-Force. But its still Wade Wilson at heart and a Ryan Reynolds film. The director of this film is David Leitch, the uncredited co-director of the first John Wick movie. And you can tell from the action that this installment's action looks way better. Especially the hand to hand combat. They even made Josh Brolin look good.

All in all, I had fun watching this film. But just like the first Deadpool, I didn't necessary enjoy watching this again. I've never re-watched Deadpool in its entirety. Just bits and pieces from TV and HBO. I suspect the same for this installment.

This film does feature quite the good looking Asians. From the Hong Kong Triads to the Japanese Triad montages, and than to Shatterstar played by Lewis Tan. They end it finally with Shioli Kutsuna who brings the "ah, how cute" moments to the film. This film had it all.

12 Years A Slave - 自由之心

12 Years a Slave (自由之心) is an 2013 film. The movie stars Chiwetel Ejiofor. The extensive supporting cast include Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Lupita Nyong'o, Paul Giamatti, Sarah Paulson, and Brad Pitt. The movie is based on 1853 memoir of Solomon Northup.

Based in pre Civil War days of the United States, Solomon is a free man who plays the violin. When he's tricked into slavery, Solomon endures 12 years as a slave. During this time from free man to slave, Solomon is beaten, sold, and exchanged between masters. All the while, we she glimpse into the lives of what slaves had to endure. From brutal beatings to sub standard living, slaves were treated poorly. Solomon finally finds freedom again, but the scares of slavery will live on forever.

The movie was well made and told a very compelling story. As much as this was about Solomon, it was a commentary of the how humans will forever be its worst enemy. Humans treating other humans right isn't part of nature. When another human can gain an upper hand, they will. And this movie shows that in spades. I've seen this movie repeated on HBO the past 6 months and I stop and watch a little every time. Be it 1 minute or 15 minutes, I find myself drawn to it. However, I was hard press to include it in my favorite movies of 2013. You should watch it too.

Fight Club - 鬥陣俱樂部 - 搏擊會

Fight Club (鬥陣俱樂部/搏擊會) is an 1999 film staring Edward Norton and Brad Pitt. The supporting cast include Helena Bonham Carter, Meat Loaf (Robert Paulson), and Jared Leto. The movie is considered one of the most influential movies of the late 1990s. The most famous line of the movie, "First rule of Fight Club is. . . you do not talk about Fight Club", is now part of the pop culture lexicon.

Norton plays a insurance man that gets addicted to support groups trying to cure his insomnia. He meets Brad Pitt's character, Tyler Durden, on a plane and looks him up after some bad things happen to him. Eventfully, this friendship starts the fight club. The fight club starts small, get's semi-organized, and starts to cause havoc across the city.

This is one of those movies that I stop to watch all the time over the years. Recently, its been on heavy rerun on HBO since last summer. I recently watched bits of it again. You really can pick up anytime and go from there. It is that interesting of a movie. I think that's a true mark of an movie. The ability for it to stand the test of time. For me and many others, it has. The success it lack at the box has all been recovered in the home media arena.

"Fight Club" is often used in pop culture reference for underground activities and more recently, humorous activities. Usually referred in conjunction with a quote from the movie, "First rule of Fight Club is. . . you do not talk about Fight Club". You replace "Fight Club" with your vice.

If you haven't watched it before, give it a chance. It's no longer the extreme movie it was considered in 1999, but it stands the test of time with its style, dialogue, acting, and story.

Fury - 怒火特攻隊

Fury (怒火特攻隊) is 2014 film. The film stars Brad Pitt. The rest of the cast include Logan Lerman, Shia LaBeouf, Michael Peña, and Jon Bernthal. The movie takes place during the end of World War II, in April 1945.

Brad Pitt and his tank troupe have survived many battle over the last few years. The tank itself is called Fury and is sent on a multiple missions during the film and engages in both tank battles, hand to hand, and gun to gun battles. Without giving away too much of the plot, one of the gunman on the tank is decapitated and is given a replacement. This replacement is 8 weeks in the service with no training and was a clerk prior to be shipped out to Germany. The veteran troupe now has to survive battles with a "green" solider.

This movie was both raw and exciting. The action of war mixed with humans in extreme conditions and their reaction to war. When life and death are at stake, people are willing to look past their belief system and enact survival instincts.

Brad Pitt gives a very controlled performance. As the head of a troupe that has survived more battles than most, they the troupe trust their lives to each other. The banter of the troupes as they go from battle to battle shows how tight they are and later shows how they can lay down their lives for each other.

One of the better films of 2014 and one of the better WWII films around.

World War Z - 末日之戰 - 地球末日戰

World War Z (末日之戰) is an 2013 film. The movie stars Brad Pitt. The supporting cast include Mireille Enos, Matthew Fox, Daniella Kertesz, and Fana Mokoena. The movie is based on a fiction novel of the same name by Max Brooks. The zombie "rules" in the film are different than that of the book.

The film starts with Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a retired UN officer playing homemaker in Philadelphia. While on the way to school, the city starts to go into a panic. Gerry senses that there something sinister happening and focuses on getting his family to safety. With his UN connections, they get to a navy ship. Initially reluctant, Lane sets out with a neural scientist to find a "cure" on a US base in South Korea. When they get there, things go wrong from the get go when the scientist dies. From there, Lane gathers clues to try to stop this pandemic.

This movie was pretty awesome. I haven't been at the edge of my seat in a movie since The Avengers. Iron Man 3 was pretty awesome too, but it didn't have the same suspense level. World War Z did well by giving us times of calm followed by a blitzkrieg of "will they survive" moments. The emotional connection he has for his family made his desperation all the more compelling. Why is he trying so hard to find a "cure"?

This movie has been written to death these past few months. From Entertainment Weekly, to movie blog sites, to other news sites. World War Z was heavily covered. I hope it does well enough at the box office for Parts 2 and 3 to be made. Pitt's production company planned to make this a trilogy. I think they have a good chance to make their money back and than some.

As I've read in articles, the book's zombie's are more like The Walking Dead type zombies. Slow. The movie zombies are like things from mother nature, such as ants. They swarm and act like insects. At this point, any new "zombie" film will try to add their own zombie rules. It's up to us to figure it out.

Killing Them Softly - 殺戮行動

Killing Them Softly (殺戮行動) is an 2012 film. The movie stars Brad Pitt. The supporting cast include Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, and Ray Liotta.

The story takes place in Boston somewhere. A card game is hit and the money gone. The local mobsters hire a clean up crew to find out and kill the troublemakers. Brad Pitt plays Jackie, the 2nd in charge of the local mob's hitmen. We follow a week in the lives of the hitman, the two young guys that stole from the card game, the local mobster spokesman, and the card dealer.

This movie was pretty slow. The plot does revolve around Brad Pitt once he enters into the story. From that point on, we she how Jackie encounters problems and deals with them. From the local mobsters to the local low life's. Jackie plays an hitman that's just doing his everyday job. The supporting cast also adds to the story. But this really is Pitt's show. Pitt is up front and center and the story goes as he goes.

Slow but worth the watch. Another charmer from Pitt that did terrible at the Box Office. Pitt doesn't play it safe and we're the ones rewarded with one of Pitt's better performances.

Moneyball - 魔球

Moneyball (魔球) is an 2011 film. The film stars Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. The supporting cast includes Philip Seymour Hoffman, Chris Pratt, and a few retired baseball players turned thespians.

The Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane, played by Brad Pitt, has limited funds but wants to win badly. Seeing how the scouting team seems to put items like people's girlfriends as a evaluation point, he seems feed up. When Billy visits the Cleveland front office to offer a trade, he notices Peter Brand, played by Jonah Hill, help in a decision to stop a trade. Intrigued, Billy offers Peter the job as the Oakland A's assistant GM. Once Peter arrives in Oaktown, Billy uses his method of evaluating players based on their stats and salary to make some decisions. Essentially boiled down to "buying wins" with their limited funds. Billy feels push back from his scouts and the manager of the team, Art Howe, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. As the season goes on, however, the A's turn it around and make the playoffs.

I don't know if you would like this movie if you didn't understand baseball. It has a lot of sport jargon that needs to be explained. Like ERA, OBA, etc. Things that only baseball freaks understand. Yes, there's the human element of Billy Beane's battle with old boys club of scouts that have run the show for generations. And there's the part of the movie where Billy balances being a exec of a MLB team and that of a father. And there's the human element of how the front office deals with its players whom are essentially assets for their business. All those make the movie something worth seeing as well. But not understanding essentially why the movie is called "Moneyball" may disappoint you. However, if you do understand, you NEED to see this film. And if you're a fantasy baseball junkie, you MUST see this film.
