Forever The Moment - Our Finest Hour - 我們人生中最棒的瞬間
Forever The Moment (Our Finest Hour/我們人生中最棒的瞬間) is a 2008 film out of Korea. The film stars Moon So-ri, Kim Jung-eun, and Uhm Tae-woong. The story is loosely based on the women's handball team that competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
The Korean team has had success with the women's team since the 1984 Olympics. But the 2000 team failed to medal. The team put together for the 2004 olympics will seemingly go the same way. The coach and team members get ready for the Olympics, but a mixture of new members and old members cause tension. The politics of coaching also enter the picture. But the story is mainly about the team members that have dedicated their lives to athletics and specially handball. Their struggles away from the game and how their country treats them.
The movie did well at the Korean box office and was on my radar in 2008. But it never made it here to the US that year. I totally forgot about it and ran across it recently at my rental place. I've been a fan of Kim Jung-eun since her starring role in Marrying the Mafia years ago. It was good to see her in a movie again. This was the second athletics themed Korean I've watched recently and the pride that the country has for it. Unfortunately, the movies present a pride that is not returned in creating a standard of living for them. But their success will hopefully build for future generations. Hopefully these movies will bring action.
