Jurassic World (侏羅紀世界) is an 2015. The movie stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. This is continuation of the Jurassic Park series. However, it is no 22 years after the events of the first film and the park is making money. A new owner and amusement park staff.
Howard is the worked obsessed aunt to her two nephews who make the vacation trip out to Isla Nublar. However, she is unable to take care of them and they wander the park solo. Pratt plays Owen, a ex Navy veteran turned raptors trainer. When the park's new experiment gets loose, all heck breaks loose and guess who has to team up to take down the new beast and to save the nephews. Owen and the aunt!
This movie was quite entertaining. Pratt is likeable on so many levels that this film would have sucked without him. Howard does her damsel in distress to kicking @$$ when push comes to shove.
I saw it on Blu-ray a bit back and caught bits on HBO recently. Worth a watch and the box office numbers back it up.
The Martian (絕地救援/火星任務) is an 2015 film. The movie stars Matt Damon. The supporting cast include Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Asian cast members include Benedict Wong, Eddy Ko, and Chen Shu.
Matt Damon plays Mark Watney, a crew member of a team that has landed and built a station on the planet Mars. When a dust storm threatens the lives of the crew, they evacuate and head home to Earth. However, during the evac, Mark is hit by debris and sent flying. With time ticking, the crew thinks Mark is dead and leaves. After the storm and the next day, Mark wakes and returns to his station. Can he survive on Mars?
Great movie. Is that enough? No, its a story of survival as any other, just in a scientific way. Set in the distant future, technology of today are seen as old tech and the even older tech comes in handy. The back and forth problem solving isn't too technical and you feel like you're a gecko on the wall of various triage groups. Even though this movie is really about the Martian Mark, it also has lots of story on earth. I'd give it a shot for sure.
Captain America: Civil War (美國隊長3:英雄內戰) is an 2016 film. The movie stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Rudd. The supporting cast include Emily VanCamp, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, and William Hurt. The movie is the 13th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the third Captain America installment.
Part of the Avengers team is out in Nigeria when they find out the Cross Bones will be attacking a police station. However, as they stake out the police station, they notice activity elsewhere. When they catch up to the bad guys at a new target, they fight and are the way to winning. A bomb goes off that causes collateral damage. Back at Avengers headquarters, they are presented with the Skova Accords, where the Avengers are regulated by the UN. Captain America and Iron Man have a difference of opinion. Captain America and Iron Man than build their teams. Cap chooses the side of Bucky over and over again. Who will win this Civil War?
I thought this movie was awesome. It continues the MCU storyline and gives it a shot of adrenaline. Almost all of the major MCU players are in this movie. Thor and Hulk are the notable absences. When they all come together, the fireworks start. The trailers elude to a big epic TeamIronMan vs. TeamCap fight. And it lives up to the hype.
Spider-man makes his MCU debut and is pretty awesome. Which makes next years Spider-Man a highly anticipated film. Might be a record breaker.
