The recent NBA news is the viewership is down by 30%. And some in the NBA talking heads media have suggested that its the 3 pointers.
I agree. Two many 3s. But I had lost interest in the NBA during the 2011-2012 season. There have been a three times I have come back:
- Jeremy Lin
- Warriors Repeat seasons
- LeBron run with AD in 2019-2020 season.
For me, the game has progressively gotten less entertaining. For example, I watch every Rams game from start to finish. I do not miss anything. Some reasons I do not watch the NBA now.
- Lakers moved to Spectrum for the local market and I do not have that service
- So many missed shots
- Refs have too much influence on the game
- Offense is predictable, but NBA talent so high, shots still go up
I am probably a old head. But one idea to solve the too many 3s is a three quota of 10 shots per half. After, they all count as 2s. You can still run your offense to shot threes, but after the quota, its not worth as much.
