Pacific Rim Uprising - 環太平洋2:起義時刻

Pacific Rim Uprising (環太平洋2:起義時刻) is an 2018 film. The movie stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, and Jing Tian. The film is the sequel to the original film Pacific Rim.

10 years after the events of the Kaiju, the earth has fallen into a sense of peace that it hasn't experienced in years. However, the peace is disturbed when the Kaiju figure out a way back to earth. The forces of earth are not prepared to take on the new challenge as the troupes are not as well trained and not battle ready. Can they survive? Who will emerge as the new heroes?

This film takes the campiness of the first film and embraces it. Men are macho and the women are even more so. With teenage angst and father abandonment issues aside, the pilots need to get their act together and drift. However, the conflicts of the first film resolved, this generation in this film are just very inexperienced.

I however would not recommend this film if you didn't at least enjoy the first. This installment assumes you've already seen the first movie.

Ant-Man And The Wasp - 蟻人與黃蜂女

Ant-Man And The Wasp (蟻人與黃蜂女) is an 2018 film. The movie stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. The supporting cast include Hannah John-Kamen, Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Randall Park, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Douglas. The movie is a sequel to the first Ant-Man.

Paul Rudd is on house arrest after the events of Captain America: Civil War (美國隊長3:英雄內戰) and is only a few days from finishing up. Working as an security architect for his boys, he's trying to make right. Randall Park plays Jimmy Woo, the officer assigned to his cast to make sure he's under house arrest. Wasp and the Pym are trying to find Janet and look for parts to build their machine, but the Ghost has other plans. Can Ant-Man and the Wasp beat the Ghost and find Janet?

This movie was just like episode 2 if this were a TV series. Same director and actors makes for a very similar feel. However, this time around, they could focus on the story vs. the origins story. Which made for a much more action packed movie. This was a still a comedy with some Marvel action in it. At the heart of the movie is family. Both for Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Linsanity Remembered

Linsanity Remembered. Seth Rosenthal, a Knicks fan, recently created a piece on SB Nation about Linsanity. Jeremy Lin's been MIA for a better part of 2 seasons after he signed with the Brooklyn Nets. Jeremy Lin was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in early August and the Hawks just had their media day.

I for one am really happy that the new NBA season is going to start very soon. I am still undecided if I'll purchase NBA league pass. I'll wait a week or two to see if I need to get it.

Hoping for Jeremy Lin to have a great year and to help bring up the young fellas on the team.

Searching - 人肉搜索

Searching (人肉搜索) is an 2018 movie. The film stars John Cho, Michelle La, Sara Sohn, Joseph Lee, and Debra Messing. The movie is directed by Aneesh Chaganty. The movie is made via "screen" and not traditional acting.

David Kim is a father of Margot Kim. David's late wife Pam passed away a couple years earlier. Margot and David contact each other from a math study group via Facetime. Later on, David misses a couple of calls and a Facetime call from Margot. Margot doesn't come back the day later and David reports her missing. From that point on, David searches to find out who Margot is and who he is as a father.

The movie takes place mostly on Facetime and the desktop of David and Margot's apple mac laptops. The rest of the footage is from other types of media. There is no traditional acting. Kind of like the found footage type gimmick from a few years back. But this form works way better.

The movie was gripping as it took many many twist and turns. I was on the edge of the seat during the whole movie. It has many slow and think moments for you to absorb the action before.

Highly recommended.
