Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (猩球崛起) is an 2011 film. The movie stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, and lots of APES! The movie is a prequel to the other Planet Of The Apes movies.
James Franco is a lead scientist looking for a cure to Alzheimer's disease. In an experiment gone wrong, he takes home a baby chimp and calls him Caesar. That chimp grows into a semi-intelligent semiotic being. James experiments with the drug on his father as well. Eventually, the chimp goes a little ape crazy and gets thrown into a prison for other chimps and apes. Don't call them monkeys, they'll be offended. Once Caesar is there, he eventually takes over and gets the same drug he had and gives it to the rest of his brood. They attack and run for the redwood trees of Marin County.
The movie was really well made. The affects were so crazy. Caesar was completely computer generated. Ape crazy stupid good. But James Franco was not. An angry look and general disinterest seemed to be his moto for the film. Freida's in the film for eye candy purposes only, which was too bad. The APES! They were amazing. But I was quite bored and wanted to escape the APES!
