Russell Crowe plays Jack Healy, local muscle for hire. Ryan Gosling plays Holland March a local private investigator. Both are hired to do a certain job surrounding a missing girl. They are enemies, friends, enemies, friends, etc. throughout the film. Its a good buddy paring that isn't based on cops.
This movie was quite entertaining. Mainly because Ryan plays against type and Russell is an reincarnation of his L.A. Confidential character, but on the other side of the law. Throw in a father and daughter relationship, you have the makings of a emotional roller coaster comedy, drama, mystery thriller.
I recommend you watch two masters at their craft.
