The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (千禧三部曲I:龍紋身的女孩) is an 2011 film. The movie stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. This is the US attempt at adapting the will known book of the same title. I've already watched the Swedish version of the film series.
Daniel Craig plays Mikael Blomkvist, an well respected journalist that just got convicted of libel. A older gentleman of a large Swedish company hires Mikael to solve a mystery from the mid 1960s. From there, Mikael enlist the help of Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander. Lisbeth was the person that did his background check and was able to gain access to his laptop and is a tech mastermind of sorts. Together, they set out to find out the mystery of this unsolved mystery.
It was quite hard not to compare the the Swedish one to this movie. Because the stories are similar and the outcome is known. What can the US version give me. Well, it gave me a very well made film that had Daniel Craig as a regular guys. Not his usual tough guy roles. Rooney Mara was haunting and edgy in this film. For me, Lisbeth doesn't didn't have a soul until the end of the movie. Much different than the Swedish version. In all, you'll like this version just as much if not more than the Swedish version.
