Welcome to Dongmakgol (歡迎來到東莫村) is a 2005 film out of Korea. The movie stars Shin Ha-kyun, Jeong Jae-yeong, and Kang Hye-jeong.
The movie is about soldiers from North and South Korea that find refuge in a village in the mountains. This village is in a "where time stands still" type of state. The villagers do not even know that theres a war between the North and South. Tensions flare when the opposing soldiers first meet. But they reconcile their differences and make up for their mistakes.
The movie was both political, funny, slap stick, and action packed. The movie kept me engage from beginning to end. I primarly picked up this film because of Kang Hye-jeong's involvement. But her role was mainly supportive.
